A supporter emailed me last Thursday:

After leaving a message after hours last night, I got a phone call from a nice lady at Dairy Queen International this morning saying that the corporate office is ‘shocked’ that a local franchisee bought airtime on GCB and that the program ‘certainly does not meet our standards.’

She said they are getting lots of calls and are taking measures to ensure that the DQ name is not sullied again on GCB or similar programs. A Dairy Queen email to an NPN staff member stated:

We are currently updating our media buying guidelines to ensure our advertising is restricted from showing during GCB and other programs like it.

This brings to 13 the number of companies officially pulling their ads from GCB. As reported in previous e-alerts, nearly four in five GCB sponsors have not run their ads a second time (See It's Over between Overstock.com and Good Christian Bitches).

Yet sponsors are reluctant to declare that they will not advertise on the show again. Certainly they do not want to offend ABC or liberal consumers by seeming to be allied with a right-wing boycott. As a result, a majority now quietly drift away from association from GCB. Some sponsors have advertised on every show. 112 clearly did not want their ad to repeat. For every sponsor willing to state their position, there may be eight or nine who discreetly direct their ads to less offensive productions.

Despite this, ABC appears intent on making GCB a permanent fixture on Sunday evening television next season, taking the place of Desperate Housewives. We can still do a great deal to make GCB the “typhoid Mary” of TV, a program repellent to sponsors.

There are two ways to do this. First, keep doing what is clearly working: call and email sponsors. Second, use my recent anti-GCB broadcasts to awaken your church, conservative club, or visitors to your blog, website or Facebook page. Commercial free, they dramatize everything so repugnant and blasphemous about GCB and provide powerful and easy-to-understand motivation for action.

I particularly recommend the Roth broadcast. It strongly appeals to Dr. Roth’s largely evangelical audience on her 45 affiliated INR network stations. This broadcast is direct and passionate. After listening, many of your Christian/conservative friends may also be angry enough to come to Truthtellers.org to join you in calling or emailing the following list of sponsors from the last two GCB airings.

Phone and email with this message:

Please know that I object to your sponsorship of ABC’s Christian-bashing sitcom, GCB ("Good Christian Bitches"). My friends and I are presently boycotting your products. I hope you are aware that Kraft, Pepsi, Huggies, Progressive, BareEscentuals, Marshalls, Lindt, Scrubbing Bubbles, Pedigree, Royal Caribbean, Overstock.com and Dairy Queen have shown themselves more sensitive to the tens of millions of Christian consumers than have you. We expect that you will come forth immediately with a similar official statement that you have ended advertising on GCB.
